Beyond the Screen: Rediscovering Analog and Intentional Practice

Teaching and Learning Transformation Center workshop for instructors:

Are you feeling overwhelmed or distracted by the technology tools that dominate our pedagogical landscape? Inspired by slow teaching principles, this interactive workshop invites instructors to step back from the digital treadmill and explore practical ways to integrate analog approaches, such as paper-based reflection, handwritten journals, and reduced technology use into their courses to support deeper learning and connection. While technology remains an important part of teaching today, we will come together as a community to navigate the tension between constant Canvas notifications, AI tools, and our responsibility to ensure students develop essential skills. This session is a space for collective brainstorming: come share what you’re trying, learn from others, and leave with new ideas to experiment with as you cultivate more intentional, human-centered learning environments.
