Flyer for Alternative Grading Symposium

Teaching and Learning Transformation Center workshop for instructors:

Are you curious about grading methods that inspire students to learn rather than chase points? At the TLTC’s Innovations in Teaching and Learning Spring Symposium on Alternative Grading, you’ll hear from UMD faculty who have reimagined grading and assessment in their own classrooms. You’ll explore approaches like ungrading and standards-based grading, and develop ideas to make grading more meaningful for you and your students. Use the built in work time to apply what you’ve learned to your spring 2026 course.

Faculty Experts:

Melvette Davis, English

Alexandra Harlig, Honors College & Dance Studies

Michael Marsh, Computer Science
