Teaching and Learning Transformation Center workshop for instructors:
Many of us assign writing projects, aiming to help students develop strong critical thinking and research skills in our fields. But when it comes time to grade, the stack of papers can often feel overwhelming. How might we assess writing in ways that help students learn, without overburdening ourselves with excessively time-consuming feedback? In this workshop, facilitated by Dr. Sara Wilder and Tom Earles of the UMD Writing Center, we’ll draw on Writing Across the Curriculum scholarship to explore frameworks for incorporating writing into student learning as well as strategies for responding to and assessing student writing.
