Graduate Student Orientation to Teaching, Additional Teaching Support

Join us for interactive sessions to help you get set up for your role as a TA or instructor of record this fall. This event includes workshops for graduate students and postdocs to help you try out teaching techniques and practice for situations you might encounter in the classroom. A light breakfast will be provided. You are welcome to attend all or part of the half-day event.

Agenda

  • 8:30-9am: Check-in and light breakfast
  • 9 -10:40am: Workshops (Active Learning Techniques or Role-Plays and Scenarios)
  • 10:40-11am: Break
  • 11am-12pm: Panel Discussions (Lab TAs or Discussion Facilitators)

This event is put on by the University of Maryland Teaching and Learning Transformation Center (TLTC). Learn more and access additional orientation materials here.

All sessions will be held in the Edward St. John Learning & Teaching Center (ESJ), in rooms 1202 and 1224. You can find floor plans here.
