UMD students are invited to dress in costume at the Friday October 31, 2025, Homecoming Terp Carnival for a chance to win great prizes! Four costume categories:
Best Terp/Maryland Pride
Best Group Costume
Most Creative
Funniest
From 2:00 - 5:30pm, those who wish to participate in costume should visit tables throughout the Carnival. Secret judges placed at some of the tables will hand out slips to those they select to be finalists in each category, totalling about 12 finalists in each category. At 6:00pm, finalists should gather at the stage for a festive judging by Coach Locksley and the Maryland Football Team. All Carnival attendees are encouraged to join in and cheer on their favorites!
Top Prize in Each Category: $100 Terrapin Express Gift Card, UMD Backpack and a UMD Blanket
Participation Prize for All Finalists: UMD Blanket
No registration required, just come and participate! Must be a UMD student.
NO MASKS. Also, please, nothing too scary! This is a family-friendly event.
