Natalia Toledo is a Zapotec poet and storyteller from Juchitán, Oaxaca. She has published more than a dozen books that have earned her recognition such as the Nezahualcóyotl Prize for Literature in Mexican Languages (2004), an Honorable Mention from the Indigenous Literature of the Americas Prize (2014), a spot as a Member of the National System of Creators (2017) and the Borchard Foundation Center on Literary Arts Award (2022). Her book "The Black Flowers", published by Phonemé Media, was recognized by World Literature Today magazine as one of the 75 best translations in the world. Her poetry has been translated into Mazatec, Mayan, Nahuatl, Mixtec, English, French, Slovenian, Italian, German, and Punjabi.
