Looking Forward in Higher Education: A Panel Discussion
Universities are sites of discovery and innovation, but change in higher education itself can be slow and challenging. A range of factors–from budgets to politics to technology–will likely create ripples of change at institutions such as the University of Maryland in the near future. What might those changes be and how will they impact us? Join us to hear perspectives from faculty and researchers across campus.

"So Tell Me About Yourself": Harness the Power of Your Stories
Most of us know how important interviews and networking are to our careers – but we still feel a sense of dread about them. After all, people can only get to know us through the stories we are willing to share. And yes, our stories hold power and are important to our personal and professional identities. In this 90-minute workshop, you will have time to reflect on your past experiences and share stories in a way that highlights your skills, accomplishments, and values. You will grow awareness of your strengths and increase your confidence in talking to others.
2:15-3:30pm
Prioritizing You: Building a Personalized Self-Care Plan
Navigating the demands of graduate school and postdoctoral training can be overwhelming, but prioritizing wellness is key to thriving both personally and professionally. In this 60-minute interactive workshop, you will learn how to develop a personalized wellness plan that incorporates meaningful self-care practices and practical strategies for maintaining balance and resilience. We’ll explore tools for managing stress, fostering mental and emotional well-being, and integrating small but impactful habits into your daily routine. Tailored specifically for the unique challenges faced by graduate students and postdocs, this session will empower you with actionable insights and resources to support your wellness journey. Leave feeling equipped to take proactive steps toward a more balanced, fulfilling, and sustainable academic and personal life.
