Joy Ladin works and writes at the tangled intersection of literature, Judaism, and transgender identity. She is the author of ten books of poetry, including Shekhinah Speaks and The Book of Anna, as well as an award-winning memoir of gender transition, Through the Door of Life and the first book-length work of Jewish trans theology, The Soul of the Stranger: Reading God and Torah from a Transgender Perspective.
This event is co-sponsored by the Frederick Douglass Center for Leadership Through the Humanities, as part of the Religious Studies initiative, "Beyond Pluralism", which embraces difficult dialogue across religious difference.
