Please join the Mark and Heather Rosenker Center for Political Communication & Civic Leadership, the Department of Communication, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, & the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures for the 2024 Rosenker Lecture, "Enduring Words," presented by Joe Mazza.

After 18 years as Chief of the Translating Division at the State Department’s Office of Language Services, Joe Mazza has seen hundreds of millions of words move through his office, in dozens of languages. And although he never met a word he did not like, a handful of them stand out from the others. Joe’s talk will focus on some of these memorable words and explore the stories behind them, as we tackle the question on everyone’s mind: what does “word power” mean in the Age of Artificial Intelligence?
