Come experience the Six Solo Sonatas by the great Belgian violinist/composer Eugène Ysaÿe on the landmark of their composition exactly 100 years ago. Learn about the composer and the six dedicatees, all celebrated violinists of the period—le style moderne! Students from the class of Professor Salness will provide context to the diverse historic personalities as they perform this mercurial repertoire, exploring its unique harmonic language, innovative instrumental techniques and magical expressive qualities that have propelled this class project—one requiring courage and stylish elan appropriate to the debonair violinists who inspired them.
