The Anwar Sadat Chair for Peace and Development and the College of Behavior and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland, College Park invite you to join us for our Sadat Forum, "A Conversation with Dr. Fiona Hill: Ukraine, Russia, and U.S. Public Opinion," which will be conducted by Professor Shibley Telhami virtually on Wednesday, October 11 from 2-3pm EDT.
The forum will also include the release of our latest University of Maryland Critical Issues Poll on American public attitudes about Ukraine and Russia.
Dr. Fiona Hill is the Chancellor of Durham University in the U.K. and Senior Fellow in the Center on the United States and Europe within the Foreign Policy program at Brookings. She is also the Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin. She was previously Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for European and Russian Affairs on the U.S. National Security Council from 2017-2019 and a National Intelligence Officer for Russia and Eurasia at the National Intelligence Council from 2006-2009. One of the most preeminent experts on Russia and Ukraine, Dr. Hill is a prolific author of multiple books and articles, including Mr. Putin: Operative in the Kremlin (with Clifford G. Gaddy), and her latest memoir, There Is Nothing For You Here: Finding Opportunity In The 21st Century.
Introducing Dr. Fiona Hill will be Dr. Jennifer King Rice, Senior Vice President and Provost of the University of Maryland. This forum will address where things stand regarding the Russian invasion of Ukraine and its implications for the U.S. and the international community. In addition, the conversation will probe the shifting level of American public support for Ukraine, especially during the 2024 election season.
