  • The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Internationally respected for their innovative programming, the renowned Takács Quartet has collaborated with a fascinating variety of talents, including the bandoneón virtuoso Julien Labro, actors Meryl Streep and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, and former United States Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky. The members of Takács–Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes (violins), Richard O’Neill (viola) and Mihai Marica (cello)–are Hyperion recording artists and Christoffersen Fellows in Residence at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Originally founded in 1975 at the Music Academy in Budapest, the quartet is currently based out of North America but tours and performs almost continually around the world. The quartet performs a world-premiere by Grammy-nominated composer Carlos Simon paired with Franz Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in G Major and Franz Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” quartet.
