Teaching and Learning Transformation Center workshop for instructors:
Join us for an engaging workshop focused on understanding and supporting first-generation college students at UMD. This event welcomes faculty, staff, and graduate students who were first generation college students themselves, as well as anyone passionate about supporting first generation students. A panel of first generation students will share their stories, challenges, and successes, offering valuable perspectives on how faculty can create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment. The discussion will highlight key barriers first generation students often face and explore meaningful ways to foster their academic success. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with others committed to first gen student success and build a community of support across campus. Whether you share the first gen experience or want to learn how to better support this underserved population, this workshop offers valuable insights and practical approaches to help our first generation Terps thrive.
