Are you a UMD researcher or entrepreneur preparing to launch a startup? Join us for a practical overview of the space and resources available to help you move from idea to operation. This session will highlight Mtech’s Incubator in the Rabin Building, which offers lab and office facilities, shared office space, and support for early-stage companies emerging from university research. We will also review the Facility Use Application and License process and outline key steps for securing space on UMD campus. In addition, the session will introduce other startup locations in College Park and across Maryland that may fit your company’s needs.
Presenters:
Rob Cohen, Program Manager at Mtech Ventures, has over 30 years of experience developing products and technologies in health, healthcare, and life sciences. He has led product development at a biotech startup combating drug-resistant infections and at the National Institutes of Health, focusing on customer-driven innovation. A founder and inventor with more than 30 U.S. patents, Rob has worked across medical technology, sports safety, and surgical simulation.
Alla McCoy has over 17 years of experience in entrepreneurship, technology transfer, and innovation, helping UMD faculty and graduate students transform research into impactful products and services. As Director of Venture Development at UM Ventures, she designs and leads programs offering education, mentoring, funding, and networking, while collaborating with university leadership and regional partners to connect innovators with the resources they need.
