As a startup founder, understanding equity is essential to building a solid foundation for your company. Deciding how to split equity fairly among co-founders, early hires, and advisors can be a daunting task, but it’s critical for long-term success. This session introduces startup founders to the fundamentals of equity, beginning with a foundational overview of the principal entity forms that start-up founders can choose, and extends to best practices for dividing equity among co-founders, early hires, and advisors. Designed for early-stage entrepreneurs, this presentation offers a clear, practical framework for making informed equity decisions and avoiding common pitfalls to avoid in order to maintain a clean cap table that is friendly to both founders and investors.
