Join us for a compelling evening of art, scholarship, and dialogue featuring a conversation with artist Alison Saar and the 2026 Driskell Distinguished Lecture delivered by Dr. Cherise Smith (University of Texas at Austin). We will also be presenting the 2026 James A. Porter and David C. Driskell Book Award in African American Art History, honoring both Professor Driskell and Porter's legacies in the field of African American art.
Through reflection, critical insight, and creative perspective, the evening will explore vital issues surrounding Black art and the experiences of Black artists. Together, these distinguished voices will engage themes of representation, history, and artistic innovation, contributing to a deeper understanding of Black artistic production within the broader narrative of American art.
