NOI Philharmonic: Alsop Conducts Rite of Spring

NOI+F’s extraordinary Music Director Marin Alsop returns to The Clarice for yet another summer of awe-inspiring performances! Wang Jie’s The Winter that United Us pays tribute to Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo–one of the composer’s favorite spaces. Grammy-nominated composer, pianist, vocalist and educator Clarice Assad’s Nhanderú evokes the rain dance of the Tupi and Guarani tribes from the Amazon basin through special sound effects and vibrant instrumentation. Maestra Alsop concludes the program with Igor Stravinsky’s legendary ballet score Rite of Spring, which shocked Paris audiences into a riot with its grandeur and pomp.
