Conflicts of interest (COI) are a common challenge in the university environment, and effectively managing them is essential to maintaining the integrity of research, teaching, and administrative responsibilities. Join the University of Maryland’s Conflict of Interest Committee Chair and members for a practical workshop on understanding, disclosing, and managing COIs.
This session will cover UMD policy, what constitutes a COI, when and how to disclose potential conflicts, and the role of COI management plans in ensuring research integrity. Special emphasis will be placed on situations that arise in entrepreneurial and startup activities. Participants will also learn about resources available at UMD to navigate complex COI scenarios and avoid pitfalls that could impact research credibility or career progress.
