Linda May Han Oh Group: The Glass Hours

- The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

The Grammy Award-winning Australian-born musician Linda May Han Oh is one of the jazz world's most sought-after bassists. She's played alongside Vijay Iyer, Pat Metheny, Billy Childs, Terri Lynne Carrington, Dave Douglas and Geri Allen and was featured as an animated cast member in the Pixar film Soul. But it's as a bandleader and composer that she truly shines. On her latest release, The Glass Hours, Oh joins a combo featuring Sara Serpa on vocals, Mark Turner on tenor sax, Obed Calvaire on percussion and Fabian Almazan on piano and electronics, for a work that proves her to be at the top of her powers. This is, in the artist's words, a collection of works based on abstract themes on the fragility of time and life, which WBGO Radio calls "a swirl of intricate designs, all carried out with steady composure." It is a project of extraordinarily lucid beauty and clarity, joining undeniable craft with deep emotion in a fashion that's rare in today's jazz landscape. Linda May Han Oh and her ensemble will be making their Clarice debut with a live performance of the new album in its entirety.
