Introduction to Remote Sensing

Campus setting on a spring day
  • To
  • Online

This interactive workshop introduces the fundamental principles of remote sensing and how satellite imagery is used to study the Earth’s surface. Participants will learn what remote sensing is, how satellites collect data, and how raster datasets differ based on spatial resolution. The session will also highlight common applications of remote sensing across different fields, as well as discuss what geospatial tools and platforms are available for working with satellite data. A hands-on demo will be conducted using ArcGIS Pro, where participants will work with satellite imagery and apply analytical tools. Participants in this workshop are expected to have introductory GIS knowledge, but it is not required.
