Research Education at University Libraries workshops equip researchers with the tools, concepts, and skills needed for every stage of the research lifecycle. Data Science/GIS workshop series is powered by GIS and Data Service Center. This workshop series offers introductory to advanced-level skills in GIS, Data Science, and Data Visualization among others.

Spatial Statistics is an applied discipline of statistics that focuses on the analysis and interpretation of data with a spatial or geographic component. In this workshop, you will learn the foundational concept of spatial statistics and highlight its uniqueness compared to traditional statistical methods. Various software options, both licensed and open source, are available for performing spatial statistics to facilitate informed decision-making. However, this workshop will specifically offer an overview of statistical tools in ArcGIS Pro, a widely used licensed GIS software, covering key techniques such as hotspot mapping, spatial autocorrelation, clustering, and regression analysis among others. Participants in this workshop are expected to have introductory GIS knowledge but not required.
