Heralded by Wagner as the "apotheosis of dance," Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 is a whirlwind of movement that, at times, dances on the edge of delirium. Even its second movement, a mournful funeral march, moves with characteristic lilt and rhythmic momentum. The symphony continues to build energy throughout the third and fourth movements, all the way to the final, whirling dance that brings the piece to a breathtaking conclusion. Join the University Orchestra for a performance of this masterwork, in addition to excerpts from Carmen and the Overture to La Gazza Ladra.
