Flyer for AR Sandbox Competition

UMD Libraries' GIS and Data Service Center and the John & Stella Graves Makersapce at the STEM Library invite you for an immersive experience with the AR Sandbox during Love Data Week!

From February 17th until the 21st, participants have the opportunity to enter the competition by using the AR Sandbox to transform a 2D topographic map into a 3D creation. Our panel of judges will evaluate each entry in the following categories: completeness, feature placement, elevation accuracy, and overall neatness. Winners will be announced on February 27th during the AR Sandbox Competition's award ceremony, where they will be honored and receive a cash prize based on their ranking. Light concessions are to be served at the award ceremony.

Everyone is welcomed to participate regardless of your skill level! Follow the steps here to get started.

Additionally, the GIS team will be hosting open hours on Wednesday, February 12th from 1:30-3:30pm to provide additional support for students creating their map submissions. Drop by or register here. Attending an AR Sandbox demo is recommended for students who are unfamiliar with reading topography.
