Tragedy and Triumph: Revisiting the 1972 Munich Olympic Games

Join The Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland Philip Merrill College of Journalism for an in-person screening and discussion of select episodes of “72 - A Gathering of Champions,” featuring executive producer Mark Ciardi ‘83 and director Jonathan Hock on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in Knight Hall.

In the film, which revisits the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, Ciardi and Hock tell stories of the most consequential games of the last half-century through the eyes of athletes who participated. Their film recounts the murder of 11 members of Israel's Olympic team. It also features American Mark Spitz's remarkable performance in which he won seven gold medals.

Both Ciardi and Hock will discuss the film and take questions.

Seating is limited, so registration is required. Please RSVP by noon on Oct. 6.
