UMD Alumna Ms. Gwen Suehunu will partner with the Nyumburu Cultural Center and the Counseling Center Accessibility and Disability Service Unit, to conduct an informative workshop. The topics of the workshop are:

1) Defining " Good Jobs", 2) Recent Disability Legislative Reforms, 3) Accessible Technology, and Communication, 4) Intersectionality, 5) Emergency Preparedness, 6) Work Flexibility, and 7) Disability Etiquette.

The workshop will be interactive and offer opportunities for audience discussion, questions, and sharing of experiences. Video and audio clips are included to illustrate key points and to provide diverse perspectives. The goal is for participants to acquire a deeper understanding of accessibility and design principles in the workplace, and to learn about recent legislative changes and their impact on employment practices.

During this seventy-five-minute presentation, participants will have an opportunity to learn and also develop practical strategies for creating inclusive work environments enhancing their knowledge of disability etiquette and the BEST practices for interaction.

These seven dimensions represent a blueprint for establishing a diverse and inclusive environment that has a workplace that has respect for differences based on "perceived barriers" such as, "thought differences" "physical differences", "intersectional differences", and "cultural differences." Overall, the goal is to have dignity and respect within the workplace and that is the intent of the workshop.
